Day 14
Good Morning
Today I'm working on keeping my thoughts positive versus critical. I noticed yesterday that I was a little too critical of too many things, and that's not how things should be. I mostly found myself thinking that I'm still not good at my job and that everyone is thinking it at work. I overheard my boss on a conference call gleaming about our newest addition who 'was a lifesaver' with her 20 years of experience. I realized I am usually the person that people say those things about. Instead of being negative and wallowing in this feeling, I'm trying to push her up and empower here as well as help in any way possible. I also am trying to be my own cheerleader and still work on the things I'm not the best at. It's obvious that I'm not the best at this incredibly detail oriented job, and also that I really don't give a damn about it. I am really trying though. I'm hoping that I'll care once I really get into this job...
In other news I made chickpea salad sandwiches yesterday and they were amazing. I tried to make smoked almonds and those turned out a little too smoky, but the sandwiches as a whole turned out perfect! I also made the basil corn chowder soup and man oh man that turned out fantastic! I had no idea you could make such a delicious meal without using butter or any animal byproduct. I'm excited to eat that tonight. Matt is gone tonight and pretty much tomorrow night so it's really going to be me eating the soup.
Tonight I really need to get down on some laundry and clean up the kitchen. I kind of hate having to do all of the chores around here, but Matt also half asses them and messes everything up in the process.
Last night we went to trivia with our new friends Alyssa and Brock. I think his name is Brock anyway. It was really nice to get out and hangout with people our age. They both have PHDs but they don't flaunt them around that much and aren't HUGE nerds. Just the type of nerds we like. I think we'll be going back for Trivia soon!
Bridget and Ryan get back tonight, but I think we're hanging out tomorrow night. I feel like I haven't seen them in a month!
Ok time to get ready.
